Sustainable Forest Management Performance
Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) is defined as:
"Management to maintain and enhance the long term health of forest ecosystems, while providing ecological, economic, social and cultural opportunities for the benefit of present and future generations." ²
A Sustainable Forest Management Plan provides a vehicle for transferring Sustainable Forest Management commitments to on the ground commitments.
In order to be certified to the Canadian Standards Association Sustainable Forest Management standard, Teal will have to undergo an independent, third-party audit. The auditor must be a registrar (certifier) accredited by the Standards Council of Canada. Accredited certifiers are independent of the standards writing body.
