The Teal-Jones Group is committed to sustainable management of the resources under
their stewardship in a scientifically credible and environmentally, economically and socially responsible manner.
The Environmental Policy details Teal's objectives and
commitments in the long term productivity and conservation of natural resources.
Forest certification is a means of protecting forests by promoting responsible and sustainable
forest management. Certification provides an independent third-party assurance that a forestry
operation meets standards set by a certification program. Forests are evaluated according to
previously defined standards of the certification program by a qualified independent auditor.
If satisfied, the auditor certifies the forest
(or area) as well-managed.
Products certified to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Z809
Sustainable Forest Management standard are available originating from our Whitewood Lumber and Shake
& Shingle Divisions. These certified products are available in two options:
- A minimum of 70% of the input used to make the product line has been tracked
and monitored from its point of origin (a CSA Z809 certified forest), or
- 100% of the product has been tracked and monitored from its point of origin
(a certified CSA Z809 certified forest)
CSA Chain of Custody (CoC) audits occur yearly in all our facilities throughout B.C. to ensure the highest level of
tracking and integrity of certified material. The CSA Standard provides customers with the assurance that the products
they are purchasing come from sustainably managed resources.
The Teal Jones Group has achieved
Canadian Standards Association Sustainable Forest Management
certification on our forest lands in Southern Vancouver Island and our Fraser Timberlands.
